Exclusive! Sagar Parekh on entering Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11: I was the last wildcard contestant to get cast so I got only 4-5 days to prepare – Times of India

Anupamaa‘s Samar aka Sagar Parekh is all set to enter Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11 as a wildcard contestant. In an exclusive conversation with ETimes TV, Sagar shares his excitement to be a part of the show, his struggles with dancing and more.

I have a lot of mixed emotions

It is very exciting. It is a surreal moment for me. The show has been coming for so many years. I wasn’t even a part of the Industry back then and I used to watch it, now that I am going to perform on the stage.I am nervous, but at the same time, I have a lot of mixed emotions about being a part of the show.

It is quite challenging, being a non-dancer

It is very scary. It is like I am challenging myself. I have been a regular dancer but not professionally. I have never performed like this before. It has always been like if I was taught a few steps, I would do it. So the journey is of a non-dancer only. I didn’t even know if I could perform this well so I would call this pushing my limits. I am very happy that I have stepped out of my comfort zone. It is tough but I am enjoying the process.

I go home with those bruises and body aches

I am not scared of the stunts, but when I go home with those bruises and my body aching it feels like I have fought a war and returned. Every day is a struggle, acting for 12 hours is different and dancing every day for 12 hours is completely different. You are dancing non-stop against time, so it is quite difficult and that affects you a lot.

Awez Darbar is a dancer, there is no comparison

I haven’t really thought so much about the competition. It is just how these people are, Awez Darbar is entering. He is a dancer, so there is no comparison. He has been dancing since his childhood while I am still beginning with my journey. It is not about competition, it is about the show’s format where they want to see the journey of a celebrity non-dancer turn into a dancer. That is what I am aiming for. I want to prove to people that if I am in it I will prove my worth. If I go forward, I will prove to them that there is that dancer in me which can transform with hard work and dedication.

I was the last contestant to get cast

I think everyone has their own share in this, of course, Karuna is juggling between her show and Jhalak but she has been comfortable with it. My casting was done at the end, so other wild card contestants have been rehearsing for the last 10 days while I have been given only 4 or 5 days to prepare.

I have been rehearsing double the hours

I have been rehearsing double the hours. My rehearsals go on for 14-15 hours, from the morning we begin and I wrap by midnight. Even at night while sleeping I listen to songs and everything like that.
